Where do we begin!?  Well an introduction to Tokio Hotel Of course!  They are a German rock band of teenage-superstars from Magdeburg, who began their music career in 2001 by singer Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, drummer Gustav Schäfer and bassist Georg Listing.  These four rockers have achieved four number one singles and have released two number one albums in Germany, selling nearly 5 million CDs and DVDs there!

Their first album, published by Island Records in 2005, was called Schrei.  The album included 5 number 1’s including: Der letzte Tag, Rette mich and Durch den Monsun.  The album itself also got to the top of the charts.  Overall it sold over half a million copies around the world!

After that success on 23rd February 2007 they released their second German album called Zimmer 483 and their first English album, Scream, which have combined album sales of over one million copies worldwide and helped win the band their first MTV Europe Music Award for Best InterAct.  The German album, Zimmer 483, got Tokio Hotel three top five singles in Germany while the English album, Scream, gained two singles that reached the top twenty in countries such as Portugal, Spain and Italy.

There are four band members:

1. Bill Kaulitz – Main Singer.
2. Tom Kaulitz – Guitarist.
3. Georg Listing – Bassist.
4. Gustav Schäfer – Drummer.

Believe it or not, the two Kaulitz are twins!  Can you tell from the picture?  Bill Kaulitz was born on September 1, 1989 in Leipzig, East Germany. He was born ten minutes after his identical twin brother!

The band originally was called Devillish, but then they changed it in 2003 to Tokio Hotel.  “Tokio”, the German spelling of the Japanese city Tokyo, due to a love of the city, and “Hotel” due to their constant touring and living in hotels!
